Scientist in the field of Information Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences (1982), Professor (1985). Born on December 1, 1945, in Odesa. In 1969, he graduated from Sevastopol Instrument Institute, specialty "Mathematical computing instruments and devices", qualification - "Engineer-mathematician”. He worked his way in Sevastopol National Technical University from an engineer to the head of Department of mathematics (1983 - 1985), Department of Cybernetics and computer engineering (1985 - 2012). In 1982 he defended his doctoral thesis, and in 1985, he was awarded the title of professor. Professor supervises the preparation of scientific personnel and is a member of the specialized council for doctoral and master's theses defense; under his leadership 2 doctor’s and more than 15 master's theses have been defended. He also is a frequent opponent of scientific theses. Professor teaches the courses "Computer-aided design of complex systems", "Systems theory" and "Applied mathematics". He is a member of the State Accreditation Committee of Ukraine, is actively involved in the work of the editorial boards of scientific and technical journals and collections of scientific works, a member of organization and program committees of international conferences. Honored worker of education of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Professor A. Skatkov is known for his work in the field of analytical modeling and simulation of complex systems, control systems, computer systems and networks. Under his leadership and with his direct participation there were made a number of research projects, including those funded by the EU (Project Tempus SafeGuard). Professor is the head of the Crimean regional consultation center on critical computing. Research interests: analytical and simulation systems of irregular structure, operations research, systems analysis and synthesis of computer systems and networks, provision of dependability of critical infrastructures using intelligent information technology.
